Audi S1 Is a Bombshell
- March 10, 2014
The all new S1 is one of the smallest Audi models but it is a high performance model that takes the four rings performance. The most interesting thing is that S1 is a small subcompact hot hatch but offered in both three and five doors variation that seems especially favourable for European crowded cities and unyielding roads. The S1 has not an outstanding design however, it follows the Audi S line-up to maintain the looks of a standard car but with the massive 17 inch wheels. Something mean is lurking under the bonnet to propel the 17 inch wheels. It is Volkswagen group’s 2.0 Litre TFSI engine. It is a powerful Audi engine with four cylinders, tuned to produce 228bhp of power and a massive torque of 279 Lb-Ft. It is further tuned up with a six speed manual transmission and all wheel drive mechanism to get the enough performance from this unit. It is literally providing enough power to sprint the car at 62 miles per hour in just under six seconds and in any trim and body style it has top speed of 155 miles per hour. It is exclusively first Audi series under production as subcompact to utilize all-wheel-drive technology. Prof. Dr. Hackenberg, Audi Board Member for Technical Development, says, “The Audi S1 offers all the virtues of a sports car, great performance, direct handling and permanent Quattro drive that puts the power to the road in a superior way," further adding in to discussion, "The Quattro drive has a large following of fans, which is sure to become even larger thanks to the offering in this segment." Audi first-class subcompact joins the S Quattro series by rallying round a new TFSI engine delivering massive power and distinguished all-wheel-drive system. From mid-March the Audi S1 will be on sale in UK, priced from £24,900 OTR, five-door S1 Sportback from £25,630 OTR deliveries are expected in spring
