Audi Q3 Wins Award

The Audi 2.5-litre TFSI engine is the “International Engine of the Year” for 2014 in the 2 to 2.5-litre category. The five-cylinder car has now won the award for the fifth consecutive time. An international jury of experts made up of 82 automotive journalists selected the 2.5‑litre TFSI as the winner in its class: “Power, performance and an impressive sound – this engine has it all,” the jury said in the reasoning for its decision. The 2.5 TFSI powers the production Audi RS Q3. The direct-injection turbocharged engine produces maximum output of 310 hp from a 2,480 cc engine and 5,200 – 6,700 rpm. Its maximum torque of 309.8 lb‑ft is available between 1,500 and 5,200 rpm. The car accelerates from 0 to 62mph in 5.2 seconds. Its maximum speed is electronically limited to 155.3 mph. This is Audi’s tenth time being named “International Engine of the Year.” Between 2005 and 2009, Audi won the coveted honour with the 2.0 TFSI in the 1.8 to 2.0‑litre category. This makes the fifth victory in a row for the 2.5 litre TFSI. Board Member for Technical Development Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg: “The five‑cylinder engine has a long tradition going back to the original quattro, and the consecutive victories confirm the sustained success of Audi TFSI technology. We will maintain our intensive efforts to write yet another chapter in the success story of this concept.” The honour was presented today during the Engine Expo in Stuttgart. AUDI AG Head of Powertrain Development Dr. Stefan Knirsch: “The 2.5‑litre TFSI engine is a true high‑performance engine. The early application of high torque and high agility provide maximum driving enjoyment.”
