The New Audi TT is Not the 2015 model
The New Audi TT is Not the 2015 model
- March 31, 2014
Audi has updated the new TT and released details on the car, but is it NOT the 2015 model which has also just been announced, but rather a 2016 model. The 2015 Audi TT and TTS models were revealed at the Geneva Motor Show which is now over, the 2015 is a holdover model by Audi. Just a quick reality check here, it is March of 2014. The cars that are now going on sale are 2015s, and Audi is promoting a new TT which must be a 2016. Could Audi make this a little more confusing? The current Audi 2014/2015 TT is a sporty coupe and the base new 2.0 litre turbocharged engine with 211 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The new car will be lighter, have new engine options, and be changed in many good ways. The future TT will have more aluminium. Audi says the future car will have a weight of 2711 pounds. The current 2014/2015 TT weighs in at 3175 pounds. That is a pretty significant difference. Audi did the math and they came up with a weight savings that doesn’t seem to add up, saying of the car “This makes it around 50 kg (110.23 lb) lighter than its predecessor.” If you want a really new TT you will have to skip the 2015 model and wait a bit longer. The new TT will have a more angular style and new lighting. Torque News will update this story when the future car has a sales release date and official model year designation. For now, if you are shopping for a new TT, be forewarned that the ones on dealer lots are the older generation cars.
